LTP Spring MLP tournament delivers big energy, great matches, and community spirit

The courts were full, the competition was fierce, and the energy carried through every match at the LTP Pickleball MLP Spring Smash, the club's fifth MLP event. Players of all levels came together for a full day of fast-paced rallies, standout performances, and plenty of unforgettable moments.

From the first serve to the final point, the tournament showcased the best of what makes pickleball so popular—competitive play balanced with camaraderie and fun. Teams battled it out in a format that kept spectators engaged and players on their toes, with momentum swings and clutch plays defining the day.

Tournament Highlights

One of the defining features of the Spring Smash was the Major League Pickleball (MLP) team format, bringing a dynamic twist to traditional tournament play. Each matchup featured coed teams of four—two women and two men—competing in women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles matchups using rally scoring.

With teams often splitting games, many matchups came down to the ultimate decider: the Dreambreaker. These singles tiebreakers kept everyone on edge, as teammates rotated in point-by-point to battle for the win. A number of matches—especially the highly competitive team DUPR matchups—went the distance, turning into intense Dreambreakers that had players and spectators fully locked in. It was in these moments where strategy, endurance, and composure made all the difference.
